Anhui Institute of Science and Technology is a provincial undergraduate college with a long history of running schools, profound cultural heritage, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. The school was founded in 1950 and began to offer undergraduate education in 1965. After the changes of Anhui Agricultural College Fengyang Branch, North Anhui Agricultural College, Anhui Agricultural Technology Normal College, Anhui Technical Normal College, etc., it was renamed Anhui Institute of Science and Technology in 2005. In 2012, it began to independently train graduate students and became a master's degree awarding institution in 2021. For more than 70 years, generations of Anke people have passed on the torch and forged ahead, and the school has made great progress. There are 17,822 full-time undergraduates and graduate students in the school, and a total of more than 100,000 outstanding graduates have been sent to the national and local economic and social development.

The school currently has Fengyang Campus and Bengbu Longhu Campus. Fengyang Campus is located in the hometown of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty - the ancient city of Zhongdu in the Ming Dynasty. The campus is shaded by trees, blooming with flowers, and has a beautiful environment. Longhu Campus is located in Bengbu University Town, adjacent to Bengbu University Science Park, high-speed rail station, and Longzi Lake Scenic Area. The school covers an area of ​​nearly 2,000 acres, with a construction area of ​​640,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 280 million yuan. There are 5 basic experimental teaching centers, 28 professional group experimental centers (rooms) and 7 subject platforms. It has 3 national-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, 1 national-level off-campus practical education base for college students, 15 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, and 10 provincial-level demonstration experimental training centers. The library has a collection of 1.423 million paper books and 1.33 million electronic books.

The school currently has 14 secondary colleges and 50 undergraduate majors, covering agriculture, engineering, science, management, economics, literature, law, medicine and other disciplines, forming an applied discipline and professional system with a focus on advantageous agricultural sciences and emerging engineering, and with multi-disciplinary mutual support and coordinated development. There is currently 1 national first-class undergraduate major construction site, 1 comprehensive reform pilot major, 2 characteristic majors, 4 outstanding engineer education and training program majors, and 3 reform pilot majors for compound application-oriented outstanding agricultural and forestry talent education and training program. It undertakes 4 national new engineering and new agricultural research and practice projects. It has 6 provincial key disciplines, 14 first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 3 first-class (brand) majors, 16 comprehensive reform pilot majors, and 11 characteristic majors. In 2021, the financial management major will be included in the first batch of undergraduate admissions, and the seed science and engineering major will be included in the early batch of admissions as a national shortage major.

The school currently has 1,270 faculty and staff, including 420 teachers with senior titles such as professors and associate professors, and 930 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees. There are 11 national and provincial outstanding teachers, 2 new century outstanding talents of the Ministry of Education, 5 provincial academic and technical leaders and reserve candidates, and 8 experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council and the provincial government. The school vigorously promotes scientific research and technological development. In the past five years, it has undertaken more than 1,700 scientific research projects at various levels such as the National Natural Science Foundation and the Social Science Foundation, including more than 500 at the provincial (ministerial) level or above. Published 71 academic works, published more than 1,300 high-level academic papers, and won 77 scientific research awards at the municipal and departmental levels or above, including 1 National Natural Science Award. 1,098 patents have been approved, including 268 invention patents, and has been ranked among the top ten universities in the province for many consecutive years. More than 600 school-enterprise and school-production-university-research cooperation projects have been carried out with local governments and related enterprises. The school vigorously implements the "foreign (territory) cooperative education project" and carefully organizes outstanding college students to study abroad. It has established exchanges and cooperation with 26 universities in the United States, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Russia and Taiwan. It has 3 Sino-foreign cooperative education projects. In 2018, it obtained the qualification to recruit international students and carried out education for international students with a master's degree in agriculture.

In the long-term practice of running schools, the school has formed a good teaching style of "dedication, moral education, rigorous scholarship, and excellence" and an excellent style of study of "diligent in learning, good at thinking, hard work, unity and cooperation". The pass rate of the National English Test Band 4 and Band 6 and the national and provincial computer rank exams of students has always been among the top universities in the province, and the rate of students taking the postgraduate entrance examination has always maintained a high proportion, with the pass rate of some majors reaching 60%. The employment rate of graduates has always remained above 95%. The school has been rated as "the advanced collective of employment work in the province" and "the model unit of employment work for ordinary college graduates in Anhui Province" for many times, and has been awarded the titles of "National University with Typical Experience in Graduate Employment", "National University with Typical Experience in Innovation and Entrepreneurship", and "National University Practice Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base". Yang Junsen, the winner of the first "Top Ten National College Student Village Officials", was received by General Secretary Xi Jinping; Miao Juan, who started a scientific and technological entrepreneurship in Xiaogang Village, Fengyang County, was received by Comrade Hu Jintao and was rated as "National Model of Self-employment". In 2002 and 2008, the school passed the undergraduate teaching work evaluation of the Ministry of Education twice with excellent results.
