Anqing Normal University

Anqing Normal University is located in Anqing, a national historical and cultural city, a national civilized city, and an excellent tourist city in China. It is the hometown of the Tongcheng School and the hometown of Huangmei Opera, and has the reputation of "a thousand-year-old ancient city, a cultural country, a century-old provincial capital, and a hometown of drama". The school is adjacent to the vast Yangtze River, adjacent to the Ning'an High-speed Railway and the He'an-Jiujiang High-speed Railway. It has a superior geographical location and convenient water, land and air transportation. It is the only university in southwest Anhui and the Dabie Mountains that is named "university".

The school has a long history of running schools and is the birthplace of modern higher education in Anhui. In 1897, the famous provincial school Jingfu Academy in the Qing Dynasty was established here, opening the prelude to a century of educating people. In 1901, Jingfu Academy and Qiushi Academy merged to form Anhui University Hall, which was later renamed Anhui Higher School. In 1928, the Provincial Anhui University was founded here and changed to National Anhui University in 1946. The existing Jingfu Academy and the Red Building of National Anhui University in Linghu Campus, as national key cultural relics protection units, have witnessed the school's century-long development. In 1980, Anqing Normal College was established with the approval of the State Council. In 2006, the school was approved to confer master's degrees. In 2007, it was rated "excellent" in the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2016, it was renamed Anqing Normal University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2017, the school entered the ranks of first-class enrollment in Anhui Province. In 2018, it successfully passed the undergraduate teaching work review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2019, the school was approved to establish a university with a doctoral degree-granting unit.

The school currently has two campuses, Longshan and Linghu, covering an area of ​​2,844 acres. It has 17 secondary colleges and 72 undergraduate majors, covering 10 major disciplines such as literature, economics, history, law, education, science, engineering, management, agriculture, and art, with humanities, social sciences, science, and engineering as the main disciplines. There are more than 1,480 faculty and staff, including more than 540 with professional and technical titles above associate senior. There are more than 180 outstanding talents such as national-level teaching masters, provincial-level teaching masters, experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council and the provincial government, provincial academic and technical leaders and reserve candidates, and provincial Wanjiang scholars. In the past five years, it has undertaken 566 quality engineering projects at or above the provincial level and won 51 provincial teaching achievement awards.

The school has strong disciplinary strength. It has 5 provincial key disciplines, 11 first-level academic master's degree programs (Marxist theory, Chinese language and literature, mathematics, chemistry, statistics, education, Chinese history, ecology, information and communication engineering, environmental science and engineering, software engineering), and 11 professional master's degree authorization categories (education, law, sports, translation, journalism and communication, art, international business, social work, Chinese international education, applied psychology, machinery). There are 15 provincial scientific research platforms, including provincial key laboratories, provincial engineering laboratories, provincial key research bases for humanities and social sciences, provincial collaborative innovation centers, and provincial engineering technology research centers. In the past five years, the school has presided over more than 600 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Social Science Foundation, and provincial and ministerial projects, and won 58 scientific research awards at the provincial and ministerial levels or above.

It has formed friendly cooperation schools with 25 foreign universities, including Salisbury University in the United States, the University of Central Arkansas in the United States, and the University of Hildesheim in Germany, and has carried out substantive cooperation in teacher exchanges, student exchanges, teaching and scientific research. The school also conducts cooperative research with a number of famous domestic universities, research institutes, and large state-owned enterprises. The school signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the People's Government of Anqing City to jointly build three industrial colleges (research institutes) and promote the construction of "one room, two bases, and three centers". It is a national college student cultural quality education base, a national advanced unit for spiritual civilization construction, a national base for the inheritance of excellent traditional Chinese culture in ordinary colleges and universities, an advanced unit for school art education, and a "national advanced unit for summer 'three-down-to-the-countryside' social practice activities for college and technical secondary school student volunteers".
